1) Chwee kueh or 水 粿 literally means “water cake” and hence in Hokkian dialect, they are called chwee, means water and kueh from Malay language means cake

2) It is a popular hawker breakfast dish in Singapore: savoury soft rice cakes topped with chye poh (fried preserved turnip bits).
